FORWARD TRAFFIC MONITOR

WARNING

The forward traffic monitor system is a supplement to, and not a replacement for, safe driving, good observation, and use of the door mirrors and rear-view mirror. Driver distraction can lead to accidents, potentially causing serious injury or death.

WARNING

The driver is responsible for detecting obstacles and estimating the vehicle's distance from the objects when manoeuvring the vehicle. Driver distraction can lead to accidents, potentially causing serious injury or death.

WARNING

The cameras must be kept clean and free from debris or obstructions, e.g., ice, frost, snow, leaves, mud, or insects. Failure to keep the camera clear may result in miscalculations or false indications, and can lead to accidents, potentially causing serious injury or death.

WARNING

Do not attach stickers or objects to the windscreen that may interfere with the camera. Failure to keep the camera clear may result in miscalculations or false indications, and can lead to accidents, potentially causing serious injury or death.

NOTES

The forward traffic monitor system is only available for vehicles with a surround camera system.

NOTES

Forward traffic monitor messages are displayed either on the touchscreen or in the instrument panel.

NOTES

The quality of the camera views may vary in different lighting conditions.

  1. Vehicle warning icon: The CAMERA screen, or the PARKING AID screen, depending on the current selection, displays a vehicle warning icon on the relevant side(s) of the screen. The vehicle warning icon indicates the presence of a moving vehicle. An audible warning also sounds.

  2. Parking aid plan view.

  3. Camera icon: Touch to select the camera feature.

  4. System disabled warning icon: The system disabled warning icon displays when the system is not active.

The forward traffic monitor system is an enhancement of the surround camera system. The system alerts the driver with a vehicle warning icon (1) when a potential side impact is imminent. The vehicle warning icon (1) displays when pulling out from a junction or parking space in a forward direction.

When the driver approaches a T-junction, the driver’s visibility may be reduced. The forward traffic monitor system provides additional support and warns the driver of the risk of other vehicles approaching. The system can detect vehicles from either side, at speeds from 6 km/h (4 mph), up to 64 km/h (40 mph). Vehicles detected have a time to collision of 1 to 4 seconds. An audible alert sounds when a potential risk is detected.

The system is active from a stationary position up to 6 km/h (4 mph). Once the vehicle reaches a speed of 6 km/h (4 mph), the visual and audible alerts are no longer generated but the camera views remain on the screen.

On approaching a junction, the driver must press the camera icon (3) to activate the system. The system is not autonomous.

The forward traffic monitor system automatically disables if the camera becomes partially or completely obscured. The touchscreen or instrument panel displays a message to inform the driver that a sensor is blocked.

Check that there is nothing obscuring the camera’s surface. Check that it is clear from ice, frost, snow, mud, and dirt.

If a fault is detected, or the system is not available, the system disabled warning icon (4) displays on the touchscreen. The touchscreen or instrument panel displays a message to inform the driver that the system is not available.

If a fault occurs that is not rectified when the vehicle's electrical system is restarted, consult a retailer/authorised repairer.
