STARTING THE VEHICLE OVERVIEW

Starting an Electric Vehicle (EV) is similar to starting a vehicle with an internal combustion engine.

When the vehicle’s electrical system is enabled, a number of features start operating, and the instrument panel warning lamps illuminate. See ENABLING THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

When the vehicle’s motor is enabled, the motor is ready to provide propulsion energy to the vehicle’s driveline. See STARTING THE VEHICLE.

In order for the electric motor to provide propulsion energy to the vehicle’s driveline, a drive selection must first be made. See DRIVING AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE.
