ADAPTIVE FRONT LIGHTING SYSTEM (AFS)

The Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) is active when AUTO lights is selected and the ambient light level is below a predetermined level.

The AFS is deactivated when high beam is manually selected or dipped beam is not operating in AUTO mode, or when the vehicle is in Park (P).

While operating as an AFS, the dipped beams are automatically adjusted to suit the vehicle's speed and weather conditions:

  • Country mode: A standard headlight beam that operates at vehicle speeds between 0 and 70 mph (0 to 110 km/h) when an urban environment is not detected.

    NOTES

If an urban environment is detected, country mode or city mode operates.

  • City mode: A wider headlight beam that operates at vehicle speeds up to 30 mph (48 km/h) when an urban environment is detected.

  • Highway mode: A raised headlight beam that operates at vehicle speeds above 70 mph (110 km/h).

  • Adverse weather mode: Operates when the windshield wipers are active for more than 2 minutes and the vehicle’s speed is below 40 mph (64 km/h).
