OVERRIDING THE SPEED AND FOLLOW MODE

WARNING

Adaptive cruise control does not automatically apply the brakes to maintain separation from a vehicle ahead if the accelerator pedal is used to override the system. Always maintain a safe gap to the vehicle ahead to reduce the risk of an accident.

To override the set speed and gap, press the accelerator pedal while cruising at a constant speed or in follow mode. The follow mode warning lamp extinguishes if the vehicle is in follow mode when adaptive cruise control is overridden. The instrument panel displays the message CRUISE OVERRIDE. When the accelerator pedal is released, the adaptive cruise control function operates again. The vehicle's speed decreases to the set speed, or a lower speed if follow mode is active.
