MOTORES DIÉSEL

Vehicles with a diesel engine have a system to prevent the fuel tank from emptying completely. When the fuel reaches a minimum level, the system activates a reduced power mode, i.e., the engine does not run properly. This is followed by the engine stopping in approximately 1.6 km.

The feature prevents the fuel system from running dry, which can cause damage to the vehicle. If the fuel gauge indicates low fuel, or the low fuel warning lamp illuminates, then refill the fuel tank as soon as possible. Refill with at least 4 L of fuel. See TESTIGO DE NIVEL DE COMBUSTIBLE BAJO (ÁMBAR).

If the system's protection function has activated, the vehicle must be refuelled.

Use the following procedure to restart the engine:

  1. Press and hold the brake pedal with an automatic transmission, or press and hold the clutch pedal with a manual transmission. Press and hold the engine START/STOP button and crank the engine for 5 seconds. See MANDOS DEL CONDUCTOR.

  2. Release the START/STOP button. Release the brake (or clutch) pedal.

  3. Press and hold the brake pedal with an automatic transmission, or press and hold the clutch pedal with a manual transmission. Press and release the START/STOP button to crank the engine. The engine should start within approximately 5 seconds.

NOTES

If the engine does not start, leave the ignition switched on for 10 seconds, then repeat the complete procedure.

CAUTION

Do not crank the engine for longer than 30 seconds continuously.
